Our Story
Our story starts in late spring 2017 with an unintentional, ice pick related pun that Abbey made on the Hinge dating app (Don was standing on a glacier holding an ice pick, Abbey came through with a classic opener, “Cool Pic!”). With both of us travelling for work every week (Abbey in Nashville, Don in London), it took a few weeks of planning and coordination before we finally met for a Sunday afternoon date on July 9, 2017 at The Monkey’s Paw in Lincoln Park. Don was uncharacteristically late, but Abbey was caught in Cubs traffic, so the stars were aligned from the start.
Abbey and Don bonded over shared love of travel, long walks on the lakefront (and occasional runs) competing to get the most steps on our Fitbits, Chicago’s architecture, going to Bloomingdales and not buying anything, and not missing dessert. Fast-forward two and a half years and after several adventurous vacations at home and abroad and countless trips to the airport for work, Don proposed at “our table” at the American Airlines lounge where we spent many Monday mornings eating and savoring time together before departing to our clients on opposite sides of the country. It made for a perfect Thanksgiving week celebrating with both of our families in Columbus, OH.
We are so excited to welcome you all to our hometown to celebrate our love this August!
